If you’re visiting Yamaguchi Prefecture during cherry blossom season and looking for a quiet, lesser-known spot to enjoy the sakura, I highly recommend a lovely place near Okinodan Community Center in Ube City.
In front of the community center, there is a small hill that forms a road.
Along this road, cherry trees stretch for about 100 meters.
From the nearby park, parking lot, and the community center itself, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the cherry blossoms looking up toward the hill.
Next to the community center, there’s a small park with a parking area beside it.
The cherry trees are large and in full bloom, making it possible to enjoy the stunning view even from inside your car.
Across the road flows a small river, and part of the riverbank has steps where you can sit down.
If you sit there and turn around, you’ll see the cherry blossoms right behind you—an ideal spot for a relaxing picnic.

When I visited, it happened to be the day of a local elementary school’s entrance ceremony.
Several families came to take photos with their children, who were wearing their brand-new school backpacks.
The cherry trees lining the straight road make for fantastic photo opportunities, especially for visitors who love photography.
This spot might not be widely known or have an abundance of trees, but it offers a calm and scenic setting that I believe would be especially appealing to international visitors looking to enjoy Japan’s cherry blossoms without the crowds.
